28 April Wine Lunch

Join Steve Liebeskind as COTD and Cellarmaster Nick Reynolds in a curated journey through Spain’s most compelling emerging regions. Discover how tradition, terrain and innovation are reshaping its wines. Steve will present dishes to complement this theme.

"Spain in the Bottle"

Think you know Spanish wine? Think again.

This tasting takes you off the well-worn Rioja highway and into the wild terrain where Spain is quietly reinventing itself. We start in the steep river valleys of Ribeira Sacra, where two single-vineyard Mencías from Guímaro—one from the cool Río Miño, the other from the warmer Río Sil—go head-to-head in a battle of lift versus depth.

Then comes the Spanish native grape, Brancellao: rare, fragrant, and just a little bit rebellious.

From there, we turn up the heat in Priorat with Álvaro Palacios—where Garnatxa (Grenache) and Carinyena (Carignan) trade elegance for power, and schist soils seem to bottle sunlight.

Finally, we land in Ribera del Duero with Antídoto, a beautifully judged Tempranillo that brings everything back into focus with structure and poise.

This isn’t a greatest hits tasting. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how Spanish wines are built—and how they’re changing."
